Transactions with inventory (QOH) products cant be dated earlier than the Inventory Start Date for the product

Introduction

QuickBooks Online only allows selling items, if the order came after the product's inventory start date. If you sell an item before the date, QuickBooks will fail to create the item.

For new items, how do I change the inventory start date?

By default, Cloud Cart assigns new products with a start date of January 1st of this year. If you close your Accounting period, you must change this field by following these steps: 

  1. At the configure page, go to the advanced tab
  2. Adjust the inventory start date for a date prior to your first order:

How do I change the inventory start date of existing items?

Here are the steps:

  1. Login to QB Online.
  2. Click the gear box and click products and services.
  3. To the right of the product, click edit.
  4. Click starting value.
  5. Adjust the as of date to a day before the order: 

Can I delete items and reexport?

Yes, you can make the items inactive and reimport them with the proper date:

  1. Login to QB Online.
  2. Click the gear box and click products and services.
  3. Next to the products, check the box.
  4. Under batch actions, click make inactive.
