In most cases, items are fully tax exempt or fully taxable. In some scenarios, items with a certain price and type of taxed on part of their total; an item with a price of $1,315 could be taxable on $1,052. The total tax calculated is 6.25% of $1,052. The tax rate is correct, but the total calculated would be incorrect, if you used $1,315.
How does this work?
In this example, an item is partially tax exempt. The connector will detect that the item is partially tax exempt. The connector will calculate the rate based on the tax calculated divided item total. The nopCommerce Avalara connector will send a tax rate of 5% for this item and 6.25% for the other item. The website only accepts tax rates and the connector must send a lower rate per item. Here is an example of sending two different rates.
